Production Process

production phases

Pre-Production:

TYF will engage with the client before any filming begins to ensure a strong and effective plan is created, with full understanding of the vision of the production.

Production:

Having discussed and planed the media elements required, we will follow the detailed production and shot plans to ensure the most cost-effective production that will successfully capture what is needed for the intended vision.

Post-Production:

Editing, colour grading, VFX and sounds mixing are components of post-production that may be included in the delivery of the project.

 Video Production Crew

Alignment is very important to us at Thousand Year Films in assembling our crew’s dynamics, technical skill sets and fit with the event. Our strategy is to layer the skill sets of the crew to maximize the flexibility of the team and ensure that coverage requirements are met to deliver a full, professional quality product.

 Video Production Equipment

We will utilize a large selection of high quality, professional equipment to capture beautiful visuals and high-quality sound.  We film everything in a (minimum) 4K resolution; even if you show your video on a large screen; the quality remains.

Producing, Quality Assurance and Risk Management

To ensure that the production objectives are met, and the diversity and quality of the footage is achieved; a robust production plan will be developed and monitored throughout production, while still allowing flexibility to move with spontaneity when required.

Our Production Plan will include the following:

  • Pre-production meetings to develop and finalize the plan

  • Development of a shot list describing the content goals.

  • Crew & equipment procurement and service management.

  • Location scouting prior to production when possible.

  • Pre-production meetings with the crew to ensure alignment, perform equipment checks/maintenance, and review the production plan and schedule.

  • An active Producer/Director working with the client, and the production teams to ensure all the requirements are met and all the necessary media assets are gathered.

Ensure crew adheres to the TYF Code of Conduct, etiquette and protocol.  Essentially stay safe, be professional, and have fun!

Risk Management

Risk identification and mitigation is key in anticipating possible issues and preparing for avoiding them, or planning for how to deal with them, if they should happen.

Here are a few of the risk mitigation items we look at when planning a production:

  • Footage Corruption - Footage reviews throughout the day.  Footage corruption is not common, but always worth looking out for.

  • Equipment Malfunction - Equipment maintenance and checks before production begins, maintenance on site, backup gear.

  • Damage to Property or Persons - Safety meetings with crew on site, TYF Safe Operations Training and Policies, Safety protocols and Liability Insurance.

  • Media Loss - Footage will be stored on TYF servers, as well as backups on external hard drives.
